Unlike emails and meetings which are often formal by nature, Direct Messages (DMs) on social platforms like LinkedIn are a mix of business and personal conversation.
To respect privacy and keep your data clean, Klipy handles DMs with a deliberate, opt-in approach.
You are always in control. Klipy will only log and summarize conversations that you explicitly identify as important, allowing you to separate casual networking from active business opportunities.
Currently, this system is available for LinkedIn, with support for WhatsApp and Telegram coming soon using the same powerful logic.
Understanding the Two Contact Statuses
By default, every contact is treated as part of your social network, not a sales prospect. You must manually change their status to begin monitoring.
1. "Casual Network" (The Default Status)
What it means: This is a standard social or professional contact who is not being actively pursued as a business opportunity.
What happens: Klipy will not monitor or log your conversations. Your DM history remains private and untracked within Klipy, respecting the social nature of the platform.
2. "Ongoing Lead" (The Monitored Status)
What it means: This is an active prospect or high-priority contact.
What happens: Klipy activates its full intelligence suite for this contact. All new DM conversations will be automatically logged and summarized on their timeline.
How to Activate Monitoring for a Contact
When a conversation shifts from casual to business, you can easily activate monitoring.
Navigate to the "Messages" page in your Klipy application. This is your central, omnichannel inbox.
Select the conversation thread with the contact you wish to monitor.
In the details panel, you will see a badge indicating their current status, "Casual Network." Click on this badge.
A confirmation will appear asking if you want to enable auto-logging. Confirm your choice.
The contact's status will immediately change to "Ongoing Lead," and all future messages in that conversation will be processed by Klipy.
The Benefits: The Focused Inbox and Automated Summaries
Activating "Ongoing Lead" status unlocks two powerful features:
1. The Focused Inbox
Your "Messages" page contains all your conversations. However, messages from contacts marked as "Ongoing Lead" will also be automatically elevated into your Focused Inbox. This acts as a priority view, filtering out the noise and allowing you to instantly see and respond to the conversations that matter most to your business goals.
2. Automated Conversation Summaries
Once monitoring is active, Klipy begins logging your interactions. Here’s how the process works:
When it Summarizes: Unlike emails, Klipy doesn't log every single message. It waits for the conversation to become inactive for a period (up to 60 minutes). This allows it to capture the full context of an exchange and summarize it as a single, meaningful interaction.
What it Summarizes: The AI is trained to identify business substance. It looks for buying signals, pain points, product questions, and agreed-upon next steps. It intelligently ignores purely personal chat and generic pleasantries.
The Output: The summary is structured for quick analysis, including sections for Positive Indicators, Concerns/Objections, and Suggested Follow-ups.
This summarized interaction is then posted to the contact's timeline in your Rolodex, preserving the history of your relationship.
Klipy will wait until the conversation is no longer active to make sure it can capture the full context instead of short snippets of it. Interaction summary might show up in the timeline maximum 60 minutes from the moment you finish the conversation.
Managing Lead Status
You can downgrade a contact at any time. If a deal is lost or a prospect is no longer a priority, simply click the "Ongoing Lead" badge and confirm you want to stop auto-logging. The contact will revert to "Casual Network," and Klipy will cease monitoring conversations.
