R5.3.4: Integrating with LinkedIn DMs

Learn how to connect your LinkedIn account to selectively log, summarize, and manage key sales conversations directly within Klipy, all while respecting privacy.

Integrating Klipy with your LinkedIn account transforms your direct messages from a simple inbox into a powerful, structured part of your network management.

This integration is built on a privacy-first, opt-in system, meaning you have complete control over which conversations are monitored and analyzed.

Klipy helps you focus on high-priority relationships without cluttering your workspace with casual or personal chats.

How to Connect Your LinkedIn Account

Connecting your account is a secure, one-time process that uses a trusted third-party integration tool via an official OAuth login. Klipy prioritizes your account security.

  • We do not use browser extensions, which can be detected and flagged by LinkedIn.

  • We never see or store your LinkedIn password. The connection is handled securely by the authentication provider.

To connect your account, simply navigate to the Integrations section in your Klipy settings, select Managed Social, and follow the on-screen prompts to authorize the connection.

Understanding the Two Monitoring Modes

By default, Klipy respects your privacy and does not track any conversations. To enable tracking for a specific sales prospect, you must manually change their status.

Casual Network (Default Status)

This is the default status for every LinkedIn connection. It is designed for social contacts, colleagues, and anyone not currently in an active sales cycle.

  • ✅ The contact's LinkedIn profile is linked to their record in Klipy.

  • ✅ You can still send and receive messages with the contact through Klipy.

  • No automatic conversation logging: Messages remain private and are not saved to the contact's timeline.

  • No AI analysis or monitoring: Conversations are not summarized or checked for inactivity.

Ongoing Lead (Manual Activation)

You manually assign this status to active sales prospects you want to monitor closely.

  • Automatic Logging: All subsequent LinkedIn DM conversations with this contact are automatically logged to their timeline in Klipy.

  • AI-Powered Summaries: Klipy analyzes the conversation for buying signals, pain points, and next steps, generating a concise summary.

  • Focused Inbox: Messages from "Ongoing Leads" can be prioritized in your inbox.

  • Stale Conversation Alerts: Klipy can notify you when a conversation with a key prospect has gone quiet, so you never miss a follow-up.

How to Activate Lead Monitoring for a Contact

Activating monitoring is a deliberate action you take on a per-contact basis.

  1. Select the Conversation: Navigate to your LinkedIn inbox within Klipy or directly on LinkedIn.

  2. Find the Contact Status: Locate the badge indicating the contact's current status, which will be "Casual Network" by default.

  3. Change the Status: Click the "Casual Network" badge. A confirmation prompt will appear.

  4. Confirm Activation: Confirm that you want to enable auto-logging for this contact.

  5. Verification: The contact's status will immediately change to "Ongoing Lead". Auto-logging and analysis will begin with the next message exchanged.

To stop monitoring, simply click the "Ongoing Lead" badge and confirm deactivation. The contact will revert to "Casual Network," and all previously logged conversations will remain archived.

What Happens After Activation: AI-Powered Insights

Once a contact is designated as an "Ongoing Lead," Klipy's AI begins working for you.

  • Automatic Logging: Every message (sent and received) is captured in the contact's activity timeline.

  • Intelligent Summaries: Klipy doesn't just copy the text. It analyzes the full conversation context to create a valuable summary that includes:

    • Positive Indicators: Buying signals, budget mentions, expressed pain points.

    • Concerns/Objections: Hesitations, budget constraints, or competitor mentions.

    • Suggested Follow-ups: Agreed-upon next steps, scheduled meetings, or commitments.

Important Note: To ensure the highest quality summary, Klipy waits for the conversation to become inactive before generating the analysis. This allows it to capture the full context. The interaction summary may appear in the contact's timeline up to 60 minutes after the conversation ends.

A Privacy-First, Secure Integration

Your trust and account safety are paramount.

  • Safer Than Browser Extensions: Klipy connects by creating a new, separate session, just like logging in from a new device. LinkedIn sees this as normal activity. This is significantly safer than browser extensions that clone your existing session, which is an unusual activity that can be easily detected.

  • You Are in Control: You can revoke Klipy's access at any time directly from your LinkedIn account's "Settings & Privacy" section, under "Data Privacy" -> "Other applications".

  • Compliance Focused: Our integration is designed to work within LinkedIn's platform expectations, using rate limiting and human-like activity patterns to protect your account from being flagged.
